Welcome to the Cuisinart DCC-1150 review. Aiming to help you make informed decisions for all of your coffee needs. So let’s get right to it. The Cuisinart DCC 1150 coffee maker is one of the popular thermal coffee makers that seem to becoming more prominent in the market place. Up front, I’ll tell you that I’m a fan of the thermal carafe coffee machine because I seem to break glass carafes quite easily. Maybe it’s because I’m so sleepy when I first wake up 🙂
But let’s get to the nuts and bolts as to why I like the Cuisinart DCC 1150 coffee maker. Well, firstly, the thermal carafe as I stated before. This is a cheap Cuisinart coffee maker that is more feature filled and robust than it’s small price would suggest. The thermal carafe is a terrific feature that allows you to keep your coffee warm without burning it as some of the hot plates on a lot of automatic coffee machines will do.
As with most other Cuisinart coffee makers including the very popular Cuisinart DCC-1200, included in the package contents is a permanent gold tone filter for the ground coffee beans as well as a charcoal filter for the water. The water where I live is pretty good, so I’m not particularly concerned about the charcoal filter, but the permanent coffee filter is very nice. I don’t know how many times I’ve had paper filters fold in on themselves and leave me chewing my coffee! Nevertheless, you can use #4 paper coffee filters as well if you choose, and the choice is nice. And this is possible with most Cuisinart coffee makers.
Take a look at just some of the terrific features of the Cuisinart DCC 1150:
- 10 cup fully automatic, fully programmable coffee machine
- Brew as little as 1 to 4 cups or as many as 10 without compromising flavor
- Auto shutoff with 60 second reset and handy brew-pause feature
- Insulated thermal carafe is double walled for longer heat retention
- Generous 3 year warranty
The thermal carafe on this Cuisinart coffee machine is one of it’s finest features. Once the brewing has completed you don’t have to fiddle with the lid to pour coffee. The lid opens during brewing to allow the coffee to enter and it closes after brewing is complete to allow for maximum coffee flavor retention by limiting contact with the air. The carafe pours easily, with no dripping and keeps the coffee hot for hours. If you shut off the coffee machine during brewing or you interrupt the brew program, a 60 second reset is available where the Cuisinart DCC-1150 remembers its settings.

I am very particular about just about anything. But especially Coffee. I read almost every positive and negative review about this product. This coffee maker lives up to the positives. I decided to try the permanent filter even though I had a fear it would leave grounds. It does not leave any grounds in the coffee! Lastly what I do love about it is that is does not leak at all when pouring. – Kevin. F
