I write quite a bit about coffee presses because they’re such a great way to enjoy coffee and today we’ll continue that tradition with the 3 cup coffee press. There are a few options available to you if you’re looking for a 3 cup coffee press and we’ll explore those here today. I personally have several French press pots including a 1 cup coffee press or travel coffee press and a bigger stainless steel coffee press that is an insulated coffee press or thermal coffee press that I love to use for guests. It is considered an 8 cup coffee press but as you’ll see with the 3 cup coffee press, the cup sizes of most French press coffee makers are quite small.
A one cup coffee press like the 3 cup coffee press is generally used individually or at most for 2 people. Unlike a 12 cup coffee press which really can serve 4, these French presses or Bodum coffee makers are meant for singles or couples at best. In fact, I’d be so selfish as to suggest that a 3 cup coffee maker is there to provide one person a couple of cups of coffee 😉 But you might not drink as much coffee as I do during the day. So let’s take a look at some options for the 3 cup coffee maker. All of the ones below are available at Amazon. I like Amazon because you can get free shipping and their prices are hard to beat.
3 choices in the 3 cup coffee press
As you might expect, Bodum offers a bunch of different coffee pot presses. In fact their name has almost become synonymous with the French press. So for a tasty cup of French press coffee take a look at the Bodum Chambord 3 cup coffee press available at Amazon. It can be had at over 30% off and all parts are dishwasher safe. It is only 12 ounces, so I guess Bodum reckons that a cup nowadays is 4 ounces. Yet every dictionary that I’ve seen defines a cup as 8 ounces. This is why I consider these 3 cup coffee presses to be really single serve coffee presses. Most folks love this Bodum 3 cup coffee maker and it gets huge reviews. If you’re looking for something a little fancier also with chrome plated brass frame the Bodum Eileen is another great option in the 3 cup coffee press. It has a fancier frame though and you’ll pay a smidgeon more for that.
Next up is the LaCafetiere wave 3 cup coffee press which you can take a look at on Amazon. LaCafetiere also seems to think that 3 cups is 12 ounces so please understand that. To me and most of us coffee lovers, 12 ounces won’t even fit into my mug. I like a couple of mugs of espresso cappuccino or 100 Kona coffee to get my morning going and my mug is 16 ounces 🙂 This coffee press features a stainless steel frame in a wave pattern as you can see and the whole thing is dishwasher safe too which is very handy for quick clean up. It is a very elegant design and I like the way the handle doesn’t quite connect to the top of the glass beaker. Very nice touch. It is also cheaper than the Bodum above and very well liked with tons of positive reviews. Throw in a pound of espresso coffee beans and you’ve got free shipping.
The best for last 3 cup coffee press
Lastly I’d like to introduce you to the Frieling 3 cup coffee press. Funnily enough they advertize this as a 5 to 6 cup coffee press but honestly it also doesn’t come quite close enough to a 3 mug coffee press. It offers 23 ounces which is better than the others and as you can see, it comes with a really nice stainless steel thermal coffee mug that you can keep heated through your 12 volt car lighter outlet. This Frieling coffee press is made of 18/10 stainless steel for added durability and it is double walled for insulation and keeping your coffee warm for ours. Frieling is the the Cadillac of coffee presses and they’ve stood the test of time. I love the mirrored silver finish they have, but they are a little more costly. Though having said that, this is a 3 cup coffee press that will last you a long time. Heck, you’ll bequeath it to your grandchildren.
